Alex Lewis Media is starting a new podcast series, the Photography Highlight Podcast or as the headline suggests, Person on Display (pod). This new podcast series will shine a light on innovative photographers in the New Jersey community and help beginners to photography.
The first episode in the podcast series features an interview with a working photographer, Brian Carter. The interview will be half profile and half photography tips for the audience. Carter has his own photography business, Surreal Studios NJ, so some of the questions will pertain to his business, like invoicing, contracts and how to start a business.
The guest and host will also answer audience questions and unanswered questions from the online meeting event, ALM Photo Talks, which is on ZoomMeetings every Saturday at 8 p.m and can be joined at bit.ly/almphototalks. You can send your questions ahead of time by connecting with Alex Lewis Media on social media or by emailing email@example.com. For more info visit alexlewismedia.com.
I used Skype and the free software Audacity to record myself and Carter speaking. I also used Audacity to edit the audio afterward. The process of recording was similar to how I made the ALM Photo Talks Public Service Announcement, with the exception of using Skype and recording to an external recorder, the Zoom H1n instead of the computer.
In this episode
In the first episode, Carter answered questions like:
- Do you need a college degree to start a photography business?
- Did you mentor under other photographer?
- How did you get started in your business?
- Do you really need a studio for a photography business?
- What’s the minimum equipment you need to start a photography business?
- Does the equipment matter?
- How do you get clients and make money?
- How do you stand out from the crowd?
- What’s something you wish you someone told you when you first started taking photos?
In future episode we plan on having more guest photographers and more of your burning questions answered.
